The Newark Movement for Economic Equity is an initiative under the Office of the Mayor of the City of Newark. Beginning in April 2021, the City of Newark will officially launch The Newark Movement for Economic Equity, a two-year research study that will provide guaranteed income or unconditional cash payments to up to four hundred (400) households. After two (2) years, the results from this program will be used to help shape policy at the state and federal level, positioning Newark at the front of the movement for a sustainable guaranteed income policy. This project will be the first Mayor-led guaranteed income pilot in the history of the City of Newark.
The Site will tie into, and support, all initiatives of The Newark Movement for Economic Equity, providing information and updates to users and visitors who are interested in learning more about how the City of Newark, through the Mayor’s office, is stepping forward as a national leader and model city with this guaranteed income pilot program.
